I think most of you donapos;t know about this.
A few weeks ago Kimmy called me to say she was going to the doctor because for quite some time she had been seeing flashes of light at seemingly random points in her vision.� They were multicolored and varied in shape.� Obviously this is not a good thing and could potentially be a sign of some extremely scary stuff.�
Since that morning, Kimmyapos;s been to several eye doctors, the emergency room, gotten a brain scan, and blood work done.� Both of us were growing more and more frightened because no one knew what was wrong with her.� Basically, Iapos;ve spent these last few weeks driving back and forth from DC to the Eastern Shore trying to spend as much time with her and be with her at doctorapos;s appointments.�
I am eternally grateful that this past Friday she went to see a neural specialist in Baltimore who told her that they ruled out the really scary stuff and these flashes were benign and probably temporary.� I cannot tell you how relieved I was to hear about this.� For a few weeks I was pretty much terrified what this thing might be (and I know Kimmy was even more terrified).�
I only told one of you guys about this pretty much because I havenapos;t been able to talk to most of you during this time.� More than once I thought about writing about it in a post but felt weird because 1) I didnapos;t know what to say and 2) there are some people who read this journal who is closer to her than they are to me and I didnapos;t want to be the one to tell them.� The closest I came was the "Is the future terrifying to anyone else?" post.
But Iapos;m glad to say that Kimmy hasnapos;t been seeing too many flashes these last few days and I think sheapos;s feeling better about the situation.�
Itapos;s so true that things that we generally think of as being important (movies, schoolwork) suddenly becomes so meaningless when you feel like whatapos;s really important is put in danger.�
